The HOPE for Seniors programme began in 2005 as a community partnership with State Street Bank, with the aim to reach out to the low-income elderly in the community by cleaning and painting flats as well as providing emotional support through activities with the volunteers.
In 2006 and 2007, working in partnership with several voluntary welfare organizations, with sponsorship provided by State Street Bank and the South East CDC, over 800 volunteers from State Street Bank, Central Christian Church, and HOPE worldwide (Singapore) served over 500 elderly nationwide.
From the initial batch of 112 volunteers serving over 100 seniors in Toa Payoh in 2005, the programme has expanded tremendously over the last 10 years.
Today, with extensive support from our key partner, Johnson & Johnson, HOPE for Seniors has expanded beyond just cleaning and painting one and two-room flats, to include: fall risk education, awareness, and risk reduction interventions for low-income seniors; healthy active ageing and mental wellness; and emotional community support through social interactions and befriending from our volunteer groups.
We are open to working with companies through a staff volunteerism initiative, as part of their CSR. Please contact Ms Anne Tan at 6312 9671 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
