HwwS Annual Flag Day 2018: The Joy of Serving
On the 1st of September 2018, a total of 1,115 volunteers decked in our signature blue HOPEwwS shirts flooded the streets of Singapore and served at the annual HOPE Flag Day. Our combined efforts raised over $244,000, more than our initial target of $200,000, which will go a long way to help us deliver sustainable, high-impact, community-based programmes and services.
Volunteers were both young and old with a mix of first-timers and a majority who participated annually for more than a decade. Some were in wheelchairs while others brought along their friends and children to experience serving together. We are deeply appreciative of everyone’s efforts, including those behind the scenes, who invested hours of their time in the preparation of the logistics and coordination of the volunteers island-wide as well as the accounting of the monies collected.
HOPEwwS CEO Joyce Tan said: ”Our annual flag day has always been a highlight because we get to experience the joy of serving alongside our volunteers. We saw them come back with smiles on their faces and stories of heartwarming interactions with members of the public, and this year was no different!”
