HOPE for Youth – Dell EMC brings smiles to kids in orphanage
Samantha (not her real name), 10, is a resident of Darul Ihsan Orphanage. She stays with immediate relatives during home leave, but still lives at the Orphanage. Her normal routine involves going to a mainstream primary school, showering, eating, praying, and study periods on weekdays. They have recreational activities such as watching movie, cycling, usage of computer lab, & etc during weekends. During their non-examination period, they have outings and internal events.
On 8 September 2017, Samantha was among the 19 youths who benefitted the event organised by 18 volunteers from Dell EMC, as part of the Hope for Youth initiative.
The youths enjoyed themselves during the indoor and outdoor games. They also received goodie bags and were treated to refreshments. Samantha felt moved when the volunteers celebrated her birthday as part of the event.
Samantha said, “I enjoyed playing netball and eating the birthday cake.”
Dell EMC has been supporting Hope for Youth initiative since 2008. Their volunteers actively organised events to support at-risk and disadvantaged youths.
“We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Dell EMC volunteers for touching the lives of the kids in the orphanage. I believe they were also moved by the meaningful interaction with the beneficiaries,” said Mrs Joyce Tan, CEO, HOPE worldwide (Singapore).
