HOPE
worldwide - MALAYSIA
HOPE worldwide Malaysia currently
operates two free clinics providing free consultation and medicine
to the urban poor. Clinic of HOPE in Sentul, Kuala Lumpur –
Since the opening of the clinic by Former Health Minister of Malaysia,
YAB Dato Chua Jui Meng, in 2000, the clinic has provided quality
health care to over 8000 patients with over 25,000 patient visits.
Currently, over 50 patients are receiving their regular medication
for diabetes, asthma and heart related problems.
Penang Free Pediatric
Clinic – Opened in May 2005, the clinic is a joint partnership
program with Berjaya Starbucks Coffee Sdn Bhd. The clinic provides
quality health care to children from the underprivileged families
in the community. A total of 450 children (with over 1000 patient
visits) are now receiving quality health care and medication from
our very dedicated team of 13 volunteer pediatricians.
Education and Children
School Sponsorship Fund - Children from
very poor families often have to sacrifice the most important hope
for their future, their education, so that they can work to help
the family survive. The School Sponsorship Fund helps children from
the hardcore poor to complete their basic primary and secondary
school levels. Currently 35 children annually are benefiting from
the school sponsorship program.
Activity Learning Centre
- Located in Sentul Clinic of HOPE, Kuala Lumpur, the centre provides
underprivileged children the opportunity to learn in a creative
and caring environment. Through the use of multi-media, computers,
and interactive activities, the volunteers aim to empower these
children with the life skills necessary to enable them to break
the poverty cycle.

Penang HOPE Free Children’s Clinic
The HOPE Free Children’s Clinic is
run by HOPE Worldwide Penang, an NGO registered with the ROS (Malaysia).
This is primarily to help the underprivileged children by providing
them with proper health care. Our modus operandi is for all consultation
& medication to be provided free of charge.
We operate from 11-1-1, Lintang Macallum 2, Penang, with the blessings
of the Resident's Committee of the area. This puts us within walking
distance from about 1500 households living in the surrounding area,
which consists mainly of low cost and medium cost flats and a cluster
of old, wooden sheds.
We are essentially an evening clinic operating on Tuesdays and Fridays
from 7pm – 9pm. We are blessed with a team of dedicated doctors,
majority of whom are child specialists, to serve on a volunteer
basis. We believe in providing quality service even though it is
free of charge.
In this, we are blessed
to have Berjaya Starbucks Sdn Bhd as our partner. Since the inception
of the clinic in June 2005, Starbucks have faithfully provided us
the support in cash and kind to help sustain the clinic. To date,
we have served 450 children with a total of 1400 visits as at December
2006.
