HOPE Programmes with Central Christian Church

HOPE worldwide (Singapore) has had many years of partnership with the Central Christian Church and has become its adopted charity. Besides donating regularly to HOPE worldwide (Singapore) and HOPE worldwide (Indonesia) in cash and in kind, the Central Christian Church has also been a great source of support to HOPE worldwide (Singapore) in providing a dedicated pool of volunteers. Below are brief descriptions of the programmes being done in partnership with the Central Christian Church volunteers.

Singapore Cheshire Home in Serangoon
A residential Home with a capacity for 67 residents who are physically disabled, they receive nursing care, physiotherapy and occupational therapy, training in daily living skills, handicraft, computer practices and recreational activities. Our activities range from indoor karaoke sessions to outdoor picnics and outings during festive periods, on the last Saturday of every month. <more details>

Red Cross Home for the Disabled in Elizabeth Drive
The Red Cross Home for the Disabled has more than 70 bed-ridden residents, aged between 9 to 55 years old. The residents suffer from mental disabilities due to illness at young age. Volunteers are grateful for the opportunity to shower these residents with love and concern, helping them do their exercises, cleaning their area, feeding them, cutting their nails, and even giving them massages. Volunteers visit on every 3rd Sunday of the month, from 10am to 12pm. <more details>

Bukit Batok Home for the Aged
In this home for the aged, volunteers provide company and fellowship for the elderly folks on every 1st Saturday of the month. Activities include gardening, reading newspapers, giving them massages, general housekeeping and also interactive games like bingo and Pictionary. <more details>

Institute of Mental Health Wards in Buangkok Green
One Sunday a month, our volunteers organise social and recreational activities like song sessions, dancing lessons, and games like telematches for the residents in the IMH Ward 53. <more details>

Seniors Programme in Toa Payoh
On every 2nd Saturday of the month, volunteers provide companionship to the elder residents of Blk 170 in Toa Payoh. These activities provide joy and laughter to the residents. These include interactive games, karaoke song sessions, performances and also house cleaning. <more details>

Seniors Programme in Kaki Bukit
On Saturday afternoons, on a bi-weekly basis, volunteers help to improve the living conditions of the elderly living on their own in Kaki Bukit by cleaning their homes. They also aim to provide emotional support to the often lonely seniors in that area. <more details>

Nurture Programme (a Central Community Development Council initiative)
On several Saturdays a month, volunteers provide educational enrichment programmes for disadvantaged children, aged 5 - 10 years old. The programmes for children from low-income families are conducted at three centres located at Toa Payoh, Lengkok Bahru and Henderson.
