The main aim of the HOPE for YOUTH programme is
to help youth develop compassion and strong character through volunteerism.
Funding for the programme has come from youths’ fund raising
efforts and several generous donations.
Programme highlights:
HOPE for YOUTH has run two programmes thus far, in Dec 2005 and
Dec 2006. Both programmes were held in Malaysia. The first programme
had 50 youth volunteers going door to door in the slum area of Penang
to inform the residents about the free HOPE clinic located in their
neighbourhood. For the second project, the volunteers went to the
Jubilee Perak old folks home and helped clear the land, clean the
buildings and feed the residents.

A Big Gathering
Becoming Friends
December 2006 saw another group of 50 youths
participate in the HOPE for YOUTH programme in Malacca, Malaysia.
This group served the elderly, who have been abandoned by their
families. It was especially heartening to see the young reach out
so unselfishly to the old folks at a time when many youth have lost
touch with the older generation.
