| Our nation of Singapore is, as most
of us know, a small country with little natural resources –
its primary resource being its people. In our drive for economic
development, we have had to maximize this resource, upgrading
ourselves to become the well-trained, efficient and educated
people that we are now known throughout the world to be. Yet,
this drive has had other consequences — the mental health
of Singaporeans has been affected by the stress of work and
society. A national mental health survey by the Institute of
Mental Health (IMH) showed that in 2004 depression occurred
in 5.6% of Singaporean adults, while 3.4% of Singaporeans suffered
from anxiety disorder. In January
2007, HOPE worldwide (Singapore) was contracted by the Health
Promotion Board to provide a refreshing approach to promoting
Positive Mental Health through lunchtime Movie Therapy workshop
@ workplace.
