10th July 2009 marked a special day for HOPE worldwide (Singapore) (HwwS) and adidas Singapore Pte Ltd (adidas). It was the partnership launch between adidas Singapore Pte Ltd and HOPE worldwide (Singapore)’s HOPE for Youth programmes, specially held at Pertapis. In addition, a simultaneous partnership launch between adidas AREA South East Asia with HOPE worldwide across five countries in South East Asia – Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Philippines occurred on the same day.

We were delighted and privileged to have Mr Michael Binger, Managing Director, adidas AREA South East Asia, Mr Jing Tan, Managing Director, TaylorMade-adidas Golf Company (TMAG) AREA South East Asia, Ms Lee Phui Fong, Country Manager, adidas Singapore Pte Ltd, and Ms Aurakanda Attavipach, Director of Human Resources, adidas AREA South East Asia graciously honour our partnership launch with their presence.

As the event began, excitement soon filled the air as the over 40 children eagerly entered - all geared up in their sports attire to meet adidas, one of biggest sportswear manufacturer in the world, and HOPEwwS employees /volunteers. After Mrs. Joyce Tan, Country Director for HOPEwwS and Ms Lee Phui Fong, Country Manager for adidas Singapore Pte Ltd each gave a short welcoming speech, adidas presented HOPEwwS with a framed autographed newly launched adidas jersey as a symbolic token of the partnership.

Spirits were high as each child was paired up with an adidas staff buddy and then, all headed to the courts for the soccer, basketball, and running sports clinics conducted by the adidas staff. All the children were thrilled to have a chance to try out all 3 sports. Adidas graciously donated soccer balls, basketballs and even basketball nets.

Time always passes fast when you are having fun, so it was not long before everyone had to stop and gather. The children’s excitement, however, did not fade as they each received an adidas bag filled with adidas products and balloons! Lastly, the adidas volunteers had time to get to know the kids while enjoying their tea-break refreshments. Everyone definitely had a good time.
