The Singapore Cheshire Home runs a Residential Home with a capacity of 67 residents who suffer mainly from muscular dystrophy/atrophy, spastic, cerebral palsy, deformities and spinal/head injuries. They receive nursing care, physiotherapy and occupational therapy, training in daily living skills, handicraft, computer practices and recreational activities.
Volunteers with HOPE worldwide (Singapore) and the Central Christian Church have been regularly serving the residents at the Cheshire Home since Jan 2007. Volunteers undergo wheelchair training provided by the Home and learn how to manage the residents’ needs as they take them for outings.
Thus far, outings have included visits to shopping malls, picnics, and street carnivals. They have also interacted with them through Treasure Hunts, Art & Craft Sessions in addition to celebrating Festive Occasions such as Chinese New Year, Amazing Lantern Race, Easter, Punggol Racial Harmony and Christmas.
Come and join us every last Sat of the month!
