Despite weather forecast that predicted rain and shower on 17 November 2007, over a thousand participants and volunteers of the Run-a-Movie event turned up at East Coast Park as early as 6.30am. In fact, a group of volunteers even camped overnight to prepare for this meaningful event! What greeted them were cheerful faces and plenty of sunshine!

The Run-a-Movie Fundraiser was organised by HOPE worldwide (Singapore) with the following objectives:

· To raise $100,000 for the programmes of HOPE worldwide (Singapore)
· To create awareness of our signature programme, Movie TherapyTM
· To promote emotional, mental & physical well-being in Singapore

We were honoured to have Mr Teo Ser Luck, MP for Pasir-Ris Punggol GRC and Parliamentary Secretary for Ministry Community Development, Youth and Sports, as our Guest-of-Honour for the event. More than gracing the event with his presence, the sporty Mr Teo even joined in the 8km run! Afterwhich, he remained at the finishing point, cheering the rest of the participants as they complete their run/walk.

The atmosphere was fun-filled with many taking part in the walk/run together with their families. There was also a mini carnival with booths offering sports massage service by Singapore Association for the Visually Handicapped (SAVH); food and drinks; cotton candies, balloons sculpting, sporting goods from our sponsors, Saucony and Ryder Eyeware; and finally, booths featuring our signature programme, Movie Therapy, showing how it is used to impact our communities.

Thanks to the great help and support from all our volunteers, donors, sponsors and participants, the Run-a-Movie event was a great success!

On behalf of HOPE worldwide (Singapore), we would like to thank you all for running with us "for a REEL cause"!
