On Monday 7th June 2010, adidas Singapore Pte Ltd held a HOPE for Youth Amazing Race for HOPE for Youth children beneficiaries and its adidas staff at Sentosa. It was an honour to have Mr and Mrs Ralph Kotterer, Managing Director, adidas AREA South East Asia,and Ms Lee Phui Fong, Country Manager, adidas Singapore Pte Ltd amongst the distinguished guests.

As Mr Ralph Kotterer kicked off the Amazing Race in the morning, it was exciting to see 100 adidas staff team up with 60 enthusiastic youths to form 18 teams. It was electrifying as each team raced against time and each other to compete in 3 Sentosa beach stations: (1) the “fill the holey tube with water” challenge; (2) a soccer challenge; and the (3) MegaZip challenge.

At the MegaZip challenge, a spirit of excitement, fear, and anticipation filled the air as the children faced the ClimbMax challenge, an aerial obstacle course through the treetops, while the adidas staff took the ParaJump challenge. It was heartwarming to see the kids face their fears, overcome, and conquer the ClimbMax challenge with the support and encouragement of numerous adidas staff, along with Ralph Kotterer and his wife. As each kid completed the course, the thrill of victory and newly gained confidence could be seen on his/her beaming face.

After a short lunch break, the kids were then treated by adidas Singapore Pte Ltd to an afternoon at the Underwater World, an oceanarium, and the Luge, with the help of the adidas student interns from Republic Polytechnic. In spite of the intense afternoon sun and intermittent rain showers, nothing could dampen the spirits of the kids who thoroughly enjoyed the spectacular underwater view of various sized sharks, sting ray, and amazingly large fish as they stood on the 83-meter-long travelator followed by a thrilling part go-cart, part toboggan ride on the Luge. In addition, each kid received an adidas bag filled with adidas products and a delicious tea-break.

Thanks to adidas Singapore Pte Ltd, 60 extremely tired but exhilarated children left Sentosa having had the amazing adventure of a lifetime!
